While some of my favorite meals often come from local restaurants that are unique and one-of-a-kind, there is something to be said about a good gluten-free meal at a chain restaurant. Chain restaurants with gluten-free menus not only offer additional options in your hometown, but also open up doors for when you are out of town and don’t know where it is safe to dine.
I recently visited Bravo! Cucina Italiana in Toledo, Ohio with my parents. It was our first time dining at the restaurant so we weren’t entirely sure about all of the options available, but we did know that there was a gluten-free menu. We had a bit of a wait for a table, so we enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar, giving us a chance to check out the list of options before being seated.
While Bravo’s gluten-free menu is not the most expansive thing in the world, it is still pretty decent. I settled on the Pasta Pomodoro with Chicken while my mother (also gluten free) ordered the Pasta Verduta. I was extremely hungry at this point since we had waited 45 minutes at the bar, so I was crossing my fingers that the gluten-free pasta would end up actually tasting good. You never know the outcome of pasta when you’re at a new restaurant!
When our food arrived, we were all impressed with the generous portion size and appearance of the dishes. I dug into my gluten-free pasta as soon as I had the chance. Bravo’s Gluten-Free Pasta Pomodoro with Chicken consisted of house made tomato sauce, caramelized onions, tomatoes, fresh basil, and grilled chicken. I truly enjoyed every last bite (yes, I did eat it all – I seriously have no self-control when it comes to good gluten-free food)!
My mom’s Pasta Verduta was also very tasty, consisting of tomato compote, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, garlic, and Feta, along with the same type of gluten-free noodles. This would definitely serve as an option for me the next time I visit the restaurant.
The items available on the gluten-free menu at Bravo! in Toledo include three types of salad, three choices of gluten-free pasta, and three grilled entrees. If you are dining out with a group of friends or family, Bravo! is definitely a viable option that won’t leave you feeling left out and hungry!
Have you tested out the Bravo! gluten-free menu yet? Let me know in the comments!
