If you follow me on any social channel, you’ve probably realized that I am in Costa Rica this week, currently staying at Arenas del Mar hotel in Manuel Antonio. I’ve visited Arenas del Mar before, but each time I return, both the food and the service get better and better.
Arenas del Mar: Safe for Gluten-Free Travelers
Updates since I stayed at Arenas del Mar in November:
> While 85% of the menu is or can be adapted to be gluten free, they now have individual gluten-free menus for guests so I know exactly what I can order—and these menus are not small by any means!
> The list of cocktails has evolved. You know I love a good margarita, so it’s awesome that I can return here and get some of the same drinks I had last time, but also some new, interesting mixtures (like pineapple and jalapeño).
> They have a homemade gluten-free bun! I ordered room service the other day after some intense hiking, and I was actually able to order the Club sandwich WITH a bun—that DIDN’T fall apart.
> New gluten-free snacks are stocked in the room every day, so you have something to hold you over between lunch and dinner. I’ve discovered that I’m obsessed with plantain chips. It’s so great to have these small stacks available because oftentimes, gluten-free travelers are stuck eating the same old gluten-free bar to hold us over—where’s the fun in that? Arenas del Mar provides locally-sourced gluten-free snacks so you get to try something new while further experiencing the local culture.
> The warm chocolate lava cake is JUST as delicious as I remember it. Seriously, I’m obsessed with that dessert.
I encourage you to visit the hotel’s blog to learn more about their gluten-free options, as well as follow them on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter). You’ll definitely be putting this hotel on your bucket list after seeing all they have to offer.
