Arenas Del Mar hosted my stay at the hotel, however the opinions that I share in this post are my own.
If you have read my previous posts regarding my stay at Arenas del Mar gluten-free hotel & resort, you know that I had a fabulous time. Not only is the location amazingly beautiful, but the food at the resort is what gluten-free dreams are made of.
At Arenas del Mar, you start your day off with breakfast at the El Mirador restaurant, offering diners views that are to die for. Tables are located within the restaurant itself, as well as along the pool so you can enjoy the feeling of the sun on your face as you enjoy what is sure to be the most delicious gluten-free breakfast that Costa Rica has to offer.
Fresh Fruit & Juice
Each breakfast begins with a platter of fresh fruit. The platter includes fruits that we are familiar with, such as pineapple or banana, and then also includes some of the local, exotic fruits. The servers at Arenas del Mar do a fantastic job at explaining what the unfamiliar fruit is, giving diners a chance to try something new and exciting at each meal.
Another one of my favorite things about enjoying gluten-free breakfast at Arenas del Mar was the fresh pineapple juice. It was honestly the best juice that I have ever had and if I could, I would drink it every day for the rest of my life! I already miss it!
Gluten-Free Breakfast at Arenas del Mar
The breakfast menu includes Light Options, Local Tico Dishes, and Chef Specialties. My favorite breakfast item was the local dish, Huevos Chileros a la Tica. The dish had a freshly made corn tortilla with a fried egg, crushed black beans, local farmer’s cheese and salsa ranchera. It has all of the flavors of Costa Rica and it’s gluten free!
Another dish that is typical of Costa Rica is Gallo Pinto. This gluten-free breakfast dish has rice and beans seasoned with local flavors and served with two eggs any style. I also loved the plantains that were served with various meals such as this. It was great being able to taste the flavors and dishes of the country without having to worry about the possibility of being glutened!
While not everything on the Breakfast menu is gluten free, the restaurant is able to substitute items to allow gluten-free diners to experience the dishes that they choose. For example, gluten-free pancakes can easily be ordered as Arenas del Mar keeps gluten-free items in stock for such dishes. These pancakes are definitely something to write home about, with the freshest toppings and delicious syrups (my favorite was coconut)!
Another interesting thing about Arenas del Mar is that a majority of their ingredients all come from a 20-mile radius. Talk about buying local! It’s great to see such a successful resort that is committed to sustainability.
